B2B Data Firm ZoomInfo Acquired

DiscoverOrg has acquired Zoom Information, Inc (ZoomInfo), bringing together two B2B intelligence platforms to service sales, marketing and recruiting professionals.

Henry SchuckThe firms both use proprietary technology and tools to gather, clean and maintain company and contact data, and claim DiscoverOrg's 'research-verified accuracy and deep buying insights' will complement ZoomInfo's 'comprehensive coverage' of 100 million business professionals worldwide. The integration will begin with a 'light' tie-up allowing clients easy access to both platforms, then over the next year the databases will be combined onto a single B2B intelligence platform, with new features slated for launch.

The aim is to give sales and marketing teams 'a go-to-market operating system that identifies the target accounts that should be engaged every day, week and month based on fit, engagement, and intent data collected in a multitude of ways'. This includes a '360-degree view' of purchase decision-makers, featuring 'accurate contact details, organizational charts, and buying profile insights'.

DiscoverOrg co-founder and CEO Henry Schuck (pictured) will lead the combined company, and comments: 'To effectively capitalize on growth opportunities, companies of all sizes need accurate firmographic, technographic, contact, and intent data. Combined, DiscoverOrg and ZoomInfo deliver the trifecta: B2B data of the highest quality, quantity, and depth'. ZoomInfo CEO Derek Schoettle, who will serve in an advisory capacity during the transition, says the combination 'creates the only solution in the market that fully delivers data of the highest quality and quantity to drive sales and marketing efforts'.

Craig Rosenberg, co-founder & Chief Analyst at research and advisory firm Topo, says of the deal: 'DiscoverOrg has acquired two of their top competitors, Zoom, and RainKing, creating one of the largest B2B data companies in the world. One of the keys to the ZoomInfo acquisition is a massive expansion of data coverage into new roles, industries, and company types for DiscoverOrg'.

Just two weeks ago, ZoomInfo announced it was relocating to new headquarters in its home city of Waltham, MA, with capacity for up to 450 people.
