In New York, location analytics firm PlaceIQ has appointed former Experian exec Nadya Kohl as Senior Vice President of Business Development, with a focus on expanding the firm’s consumer data partners.
PlaceIQ gathers geolocation data from social media networks, tweets and ‘check-ins’ to cell phones, along with retail information and local events. Sentiment analysis and other techniques are then used to create profiles of the type of people who are likely to be in specific places at specific times, and this data is used by advertisers to target mobile users with relevant ads based on where they are. Recently, Place IQ
partnered with multi-screen audience measurement specialist Rentrak to develop a new product called PIQ PrimeTime, combining location intelligence with television viewing data.
Kohl (pictured) joins with more than eighteen years’ data, technology and marketing experience. For the past eleven she worked at Experian, latterly as Global SVP, Strategy and Business Development, and earlier as Managing VP - Advertiser Services. During her time with the firm, Kohl helped set up Experian's global Audience Services group and led the launch of its marketing analytics consulting business.
Commenting on the appointment, Duncan McCall, co-founder and CEO of PlaceIQ, said: ‘Data is key to understanding consumer behavior and as we place an increasing value on our relationships with data partners, it was crucial to bring in someone of Nadya's caliber to further strengthen and expand our strategy. Nadya's deep roots in the marketing services and data community, will be instrumental in expanding these partnerships, offering our clients continued innovation in this space.'
