In Australia, digital publishing industry body the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) has appointed Vijay Solanki as Chief Executive Officer, following the departure of Alice Manners at the end of May. Solanki will take up his new post in August.
IAB is currently in the process of
overhauling its digital audience measurement services in the country, with enhancements covering mobile audience measurement, more granular local reporting, and cross-digital ratings for desktops, smartphones and tablets. In March, IAB and
Nielsen launched 'Digital Ratings (Monthly)', a new service promising to measure the country's total digital audience unduplicated across PC, smartphone and tablet, for both web browsers and apps.
Solanki (pictured) will join with more than twenty years’ marketing, digital, brand, and media experience. Most recently, he served as Chief Digital Officer of entertainment-based media company Southern Cross Austereo, before which, he was Senior Director – Global Digital Innovation at Philips. Earlier, he held senior-level marketing roles at BP, lastminute.com, Shazam, IPC Media, and Capital Radio, and he was Head of Innovation at RHM.
Solanki’s appointment follows the departure of
Manners after three years in the role. Ed Harrison, IAB Australia’s Chair comments: ‘Having spent much of his career in digital marketing roles, Vijay brings a new set of skills and perspectives to the IAB. He will be tasked with bringing together an increasingly broad range of stakeholders including advertisers, agencies, media and technology business and charting a new course of growth and increased purpose for IAB as the ‘go to’ partner for all things digital.’
