Using the Latest Research Techniques
September 5 2001

Market research consultancy ORC International is hosting a free seminar at its London offices on 20 September 2001, focusing on the practical use of the Internet for research purposes. The half-day event is aimed at the needs of marketing, market research and e-commerce professionals and will include some of the do's and don'ts of using online research methods.

The guest speaker is Paul Kitchen, who heads Which? Online at the Consumers' Association. Paul will be reviewing the Which? Web Trader scheme, which is designed to encourage the highest standards among online traders, and to ensure consumers are treated fairly when shopping online.

Paul will also be describing the association's current online mystery shopping programme to assess the service levels provided by companies whose web sites display the Which? Web Trader "seal of approval."

Describing the focus of the event, Ralph Risk of ORC International said, "The seminar will explore some of the advantages as well as highlighting some of the limitations of using the Internet for conducting market research. As a research tool it may not have lived up to the hype of the 90's when it was supposed to replace all other methods of research, but we believe it offers clients many tangible benefits which support more traditional research approaches."
