TV Viewing Continues to Fall
February 18 2002

The latest Trends in Television Report covering the fourth quarter of 2001 released this week by the IPA shows that television is on the way out.

The report indicates that the average recorded daily hours of viewing, for all television channels, are continuing to fall in the UK.

Within this declining market, ITV's share of viewing has remained static whilst BBC1's has shown an increase.

According to Lynne Robinson, IPA Research Director 'This report reflects the fall in recorded viewing levels for all television in general and ITV in particular throughout 2001. This downward trend is continued in the data produced by the new BARB panel which commenced on the 1st of January 2002.'
