A recent poll by Lightspeed Research has revealed a positive view towards the introduction of ID cards, across Great Britain. 91% of people interviewed were not apposed to the introduction of ID cards. However, there was a clear message of what was acceptable in terms of information stored on the card. The poll interviewed 22,000 people registered on the Lightspeed Research GB consumer panel, and asked what kinds of information they would be willing to see on an ID card, or stored on a microchip embedded in the card. Standard information, like the kind of facts that could be useful in an emergency, (a photograph, date of birth, blood type, next of kin and organ donor information) came top of the list. Whilst, items used to identify your criminal history were at the lower end, with traffic offences and credit history being rejected by 82% and 91% respectively.
