AGB Group Unveils latest TAM technology | June 28 2003 |
In the recent Week of Audience Measurement in Los Angeles, AGB unveiled its latest television audience measurement technology, UNITAM. Radical advances claimed for the technology include measurement of all kinds of TV platforms without requiring embedded codes in the broadcast signal, accurate measurement of time-shifted viewing such as that permitted by TiVo, and simplicity of installation.
UNITAM comprises an integrated TAM panel system, including peoplemeters, a full featured polling system and a multi-purpose centralized processing software fully based on CTS Technology, as used in the UK to measure Time-Shifted Viewing plus some digital and cable platforms.
Dispensing with the need for embedded codes means that all digital TV formats can be measured without requiring co-operation from broadcasters, while AGB's RMS technology (Remote Monitoring and Setup) dramatically reduces installation and maintenance costs and allows better performance control by the TAM provider.
According to Fernando Falcon, Managing Director of AGB Information Technology, 'The aim of the UNITAM project was to provide a tool for audience measurement designed and developed by specialists, that encapsulates the increasing complexity of today's TAM panels in an effective, 'all-inclusive' universal solution. We are very excited about the possibilities that this revolutionary system opens for the whole TAM industry'. UNITAM is entering its field testing phase at this moment and will be ready for production within a few months.
At the LA Conference the UNITAM system was previewed enthusiastically by key TAM providers, end-users and other industry players around the world, including Joint Industry Committees from leading European economies.
