New VP of Research at US Cable Bureau | August 7 2003 |
The Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau has appointed Ira Sussman full-time Vice President of Research, following three months in which Sussman has filled the role on a consultancy basis. He succeeds Jonathan Sims, who left CAB earlier this year to join Comcast Advertising Sales.
Sussman was previously EVP-Director of IM Futures of Initiative Media, one of the largest media agencies in the US, where he developed groundbreaking research studies on the influence of children on parents' purchasing behaviour; and consumer receptivity to TV commercials.
He began his career in advertising as a media research supervisor with Ogilvy & Mather and has since worked in Director-level marketing and research positions for Times Mirror Magazines, House of Seagram Media and Bozell, Jacobs, Kenyon & Eckhardt.
Sussman's new role will include serving as primary liaison with the cable and advertising communities on research issues and initiatives. His hiring is the first full-time appointment made by new CEO Sean Cunningham, who describes Sussman as 'an accomplished and creative strategist who will bring imaginative, solid and highly useful new tools and solutions to all of CAB's constituents'.
