YouTube Adds Google Analytics Offer
Video sharing web site YouTube is to offer its parent firm's Google Analytics service to brand channel owners on the site. This will provide viewership metrics such as bounce rates, page views and stay time per visitor.
For those who want to tailor their videos to a specific audience, Google Analytics will also provide data about where viewers are located geographically, and what languages they speak.
The Google tools will complement YouTube's existing Insight analytics offering, which tracks user engagement within videos along with other metrics.
'YouTube is the world's largest focus group, and a brand channel with a strong following can provide tremendous insights into the consumers who interact with its content and the brand,' stated YouTube Product Manager, Zal Bilmoria. 'We've been working hard to provide more ways to analyze data, and we think this integration will help users further improve their brand channel's performance and understand their audience.'
YouTube was launched in 2005, and acquired by Google in 2006. Around 20 hours of video are uploaded onto the YouTube web site every minute.
