Ipsos Markinor Names New CEO
In South Africa, former Synovate Director Ian Jeffrey has joined Ipsos Markinor as Chief Executive Officer, replacing Shirley Benney who has taken up the post of Chief Operating Officer.
The company, which offers quant and qual expertise including large surveys throughout sub-Saharan Africa, became part of Ipsos in 2007.
Jeffrey joins the firm from Synovate where he held a number of leadership roles including Group Client Services Director (Sub-Saharan Africa) and Global Mystery Shopping Operations Director. He previously worked at UK-based Lodge Group for 14 years, heading a number of business units for its South African subsidiary, latterly as Group MD. Jeffrey also set up and ran React Surveys (Lodge's marketing research operation) in South Africa from 1993 until 2001.
In his new role, he will be based at the company's head office in Randburg, focusing on future growth and business development.
Shane Farrell, CEO of Central Eastern Europe and Africa, commented: 'Ipsos continues to invest in South Africa as a key opportunity within the region and Ian's appointment is part of this process. We will continue to make high level appointments to enhance our specialist offerings in the country.'
The company has recently expanded its operations division and call centre development, and Benney will now head this division.
Farrell added: 'Shirley's new role fits with optimizing and expanding the group's operating capabilities and South Africa has been highlighted as a key market for expansion.'
