Former Reuters CFO Joins Creston
UK-based insight and communications group Creston has appointed former Reuters and EMAP finance chief David Grigson as Non-Executive Chairman from 1 April 2010, replacing David Marshall who is leaving his post next year.
Founded in 2001, Creston owns market research firms ICM, Marketing Sciences, Newvista Research, CML Research, and Fieldwork UK.
As well as providing market research and consumer insight, the group owns a number of agencies which offer direct and interactive marketing, advertising, and PR services.
Grigson joins with 25 years' experience in the media sector, much of it at main board level. For eight years he was Chief Financial Officer at Reuters, prior to which, he worked as Finance Director of Emap . In the five years before, Grigson worked at Saatchi & Saatchi, where he was responsible for building the group's consulting division, working predominantly in the US.
He has been a Non-Executive Director of The Carphone Warehouse Group since 2007, and was recently appointed Non-Executive Director at Standard Life. In his new role at Creston, he will be a member of the Audit, Remuneration and Nominations Committees.
Marshall, who was appointed Non-Executive Chairman of the Board in 1999 having previously acted as Chairman from 1984 until 1993, will retire as Chairman at the end of the group's current financial year on 31 March 2010. He will continue to serve the Board as a Non-Executive Director.

In July, Creston raised £3.3m by selling shares, to provide additional working capital for the group, and also allow for investment in its organic growth plans.
