Lotame Opens Second Office in Boston Area

New York-based social media tracking and targeting firm Lotame has opened a new research and development office in Cambridge, MA, headed by John Thomas in the newly created position of Director of R&D.

Lotame focuses on understanding and interpreting online human behaviour through social media. The firm integrates data from anonymous social media activity with intent, interest and demographic data through its CrowdControl solution.

Last year, the company partnered with KN Dimestore to enable it to collect an unlimited amount of the latter's survey data, access it real time and add it into its own reporting throughout a campaign.

Thomas is a computer scientist with a background in machine learning and data mining. He joins from data mining and text analytics firm Crimson Hexagon, where he worked as a Senior Scientist, designing, implementing and maintaining several components of the firm's social media analytics technologies. Prior to this, his work focused on computational biological research.

He graduated from Gettysburg College with a dual degree in Computer Science and Mathematics, and earned both his MS and PhD in Computer Science from Dartmouth College.
