YouGov Launches Daily Pre-Election Polling
In the UK, online polling firm YouGov has teamed up with newspaper publisher News International to offer a daily polling service during the country's forthcoming general election.
YouGov will report on the voting intentions and views of around 1400 respondents, and a rotating series of political tracker questions will also be fielded to the sample each day.
Feedback gathered during a single 24 hour period will be reported, and results will be published in News International's papers - The Sun from Tuesday to Friday, and in the Sunday Times at the weekend.
The Sun's surveys, which will contain two topical questions decided each morning, will be fielded to about 800 respondents each day, to enable YouGov to test public attitudes to breaking news.
Results, analysis and commentary will also be posted on the polling firm's new media web site, which will go live in the coming weeks.
'Day by day, we shall follow the fortunes of the parties in virtually real time,' stated YouGov President, Peter Kellner. 'As the coming contest unfolds, we shall report not only the daily drama but the trends that will shape the final outcome.'
