ComRes Names New CEO
British polling and research specialist ComRes has appointed former Barclays Bank India CEO Peter Harlock as its new Chief Executive Officer, and moved founder Andrew Hawkins to the position of Executive Chairman to enable him to focus on client growth.
ComRes, which serves clients in the UK and internationally, is known for its polling work on behalf of The Independent and Independent on Sunday, and the BBC. The firm was launched in 2003 as CommunicateResearch, and is a founder member of the British Polling Council.
Harlock joins with a background of senior leadership across the public, private and third sectors. Prior to his role with Barclays Bank, he worked as COO of Save the Children, as CEO of the £25m independent foster care company Pathway Care, and as COO of the Commonwealth Development Corporation.
His appointment will enable Hawkins to take a more focused role in supporting and developing the company's portfolio of corporate, charity, government and media clients.
'We are delighted that Peter has chosen to come on board at this exciting time, when ComRes is well positioned to take advantage of what we have identified as some major opportunities ahead,' said Hawkins. 'Peter's appointment will enable us to step up another gear, and we intend to make use of his international experience'.
