Ambitious Launch for WebSideStory Founder
Blaise Barrelet, founder of analytics pioneer WebSideStory, has announced the launch of a new business analytics company, Anametrix. Delivered as SaaS (Software as a Service), the firm's technology promises to enable client corporations to aggregate online, off-line, and external databases.
Barrelet has a 25-year track record of building technology companies. WebSideStory went public in 2004 and merged in 2007 with Omniture, later acquired by Adobe Software for $1.8bn.
The new, 'next generation analysis' firm aims to replace traditional business intelligence systems which it says require extensive integration with existing IT infrastructures and involve time-consuming and costly implementations, but still only provide 'static, scheduled reports with huge gaps of information'. In contrast, Anametrix promises to help companies leverage 'all of their information assets'. This includes data from customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), social media, search engine marketing (SEM), video & audio, e-commerce, and web analytics technologies.
Aiming for bigger and better than anything he has done before, Barrelet comments: 'Anametrix has the potential of 1,000 WebSideStories. We are building a billion dollar business analytics company.'
