Auction Goes Live as Needy Researchers Double
In the UK, the Market Research Benevolent Association (MRBA) has opened its annual online auction, raising funds for those who work or have worked in the market research industry and are currently experiencing financial difficulties: a group which grew substantially in 2009.
The MRBA provides financial help, advice and support to people who are working or have worked within the market research industry, regardless of their title, level or role. Since 1977, it has helped hundreds of people and their dependants experiencing financial difficulties due to illness, injury, bereavement or other personal problems.
Through its annual auction, bids can be placed for items donated by colleagues across the research community. These range from a one week's stay in a villa in Portugal's Algarve and a stay in a superior room at the London Park Plaza Riverbank, to original artworks, a photographic portrait session, garden design and bottles of fine wine.
New lots will be added throughout the month, with bidding closing on 15 April.
'Applicants requesting our help more than doubled last year, which is why the auction - our major fundraising event of the year - is so important,' explains MRBA Chairman, Ian Brace. 'It is an ideal opportunity for everyone in the industry to support us and pick up a highly sought after item, reasonably priced, in the process... Visit our web site and bid, bid, bid!'
