Partners to Offer Logistics Benchmarking
Two US-based supply chain consultancies, Armstrong & Associates, Inc. and Chainalytics LLC, have announced a multi-year collaboration to develop Model-Based Benchmarking (MBBC) services for third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
Chainalytics focuses on enabling fact-based supply chain decisions, while Armstrong specialises in 3PL market research. The new and exclusive marketing and co-branding partnership will give clients access to benchmarking capabilities siilar to those Chainalytics already offers to shippers in Fortune 100 retail, CPG and manufacturing industries.
The deal maps out a joint marketing and industry analysis methodology to target US-based 3PLs with significant transportation spend in key sectors, and will offer them surveys, benchmarking rate comparisons, peer fuel program and operational factor analyses, and online tools for batch rating. The partners will also jointly develop industry surveys focused on specific 3PL issues, integrated with econometric benchmarking data.
The first phase will focus on domestic over-the-road purchased transportation, with subsequent phases extending to Less-Than-Truckload, Ocean Import/Export, and Heavy Air models.
Evan Armstrong, President of Armstrong & Associates says such a benchmarking service has been 'needed for many years' and adds: 'Chainalytics is the market leader in transportation benchmarking with its MBBC member base reaching $15bn in annual freight spend.' Matthew Harding, Principal Chainalytics, comments: 'Armstrong & Associates' track record as the de-facto standard in 3PL industry analysis and consulting is a big reason why we made the decision to partner.'
