YouGov Siraj Partners to Poll Arab World

Dubai-based research firm YouGov Siraj and pan-Arab broadcaster Al Aan will work together to develop a groundbreaking survey examining the socio-economic outlook of Arab consumers via weekly and monthly polls.

Using the 225,000-strong panel it bills as the region's largest, YouGov Siraj will poll respondents in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq and other countries across the Arab world.

According to Kristina Koubar, Al Aan's Head of Corporate Communications, the channel has 'a unique, female-focused infotainment brand' and is at 'the cutting edge of Arabic content growth', a positioning which drives its need for 'more research than ever before.'

Nisreen Sadek, the channel's Head of News, says the polls will be regularly reported. 'The Arab viewer is diverse and dynamic. We want to capture important trends that define the audience and report them regularly in our news programs. We want to be known as the news service that gives a huge emphasis to polls.'

YouGov Siraj's CEO Sundip Chahal says his firm's new partner has 'come a long way in a short space of time' (Al Aan launched in August 2006) and adds: 'their reason for being resonates extremely well with YouGov Siraj's goals and philosophies. By registering on our panel, people across the region will be able to take part in Al Aan/YouGov Siraj surveys & ensure their voice is heard.'

Al Aan aims to broadcast the first poll results later this month, covering issues including the tense political situation in Lebanon, the political future of Egypt and Arab-Iranian relations.

In March, YouGovSiraj announced a deal with Jordanian custom MR firm Analyseize on joint research projects and the exchange of data and expertise.
