Change of Chairman at ACNielsen Asia Pacific

K.N. Tang, chairman of ACNielsen Asia Pacific, has decided to retire from the company at the end of 2001, after 33 years of service. Meanwhile, Frank Martell will succeed Tang as chairman.

Over the past three decades, KN has participated in the birth, and promoted the acceptance and application, of market research in many areas of business and public policy decision-making across the Asia Pacific region. In recent years, he helped integrate and transform The SRG Group (an entrepreneurial set-up) into a global business as part of ACNielsen and VNU.

Commenting on K.N.'s decision, Michael P. Connors, Vice Chairman of ACNielsen Corporation said, "K.N. will leave a legacy that will long outlast his 33 years in the industry. In honour of this, we have asked K.N. to become Chairman Emeritus of ACNielsen Asia Pacific in 2002. KN will be long remembered by an organisation that will forever carry his imprint."

Alongside this news, ACNielsen has confirmed that Frank Martell, president of ACNielsen Asia Pacific, has been appointed to the company's board. Martell, who will remain based in Hong Kong, will succeed Tang in the post of chairman. Mr. Martell joined ACNielsen in 1995 as Vice President and Global Treasurer before moving to the Asia Pacific region where he has held a variety of executive positions.

Commenting on the succession, Gerald Hobbs the chairman of ACNielson, said "Frank is a talented executive with broad experience and skills that will greatly benefit the board. He has played a key role in the success of ACNielsen throughout the Asian and Pacific markets and we look forward to his insights and contributions at the board table."
