Phorm Up and Running in Brazil
Ad targeting firm Phorm says it is making good progress in Brazil, serving its first ads to opted-in customers of national ISP Oi, signing agreements with a number of large publishers and partner web sites, and beginning a trial of its Navegador product with phone company Telefonica.
Telefonica will trial Navegador - the Portuguese name for Phorm's Web Discover product - with a subset of its customer base before making a decision on rolling out the service further.
The company has also appointed an MD for Phorm Brazil, former Microsoft exec Leonardo Cotsifis; and a Chairman, former Sao Paolo newspaper exec Caio Tulio Costa. In addition, key personnel from the firm's London headquarters are currently joining the Brazilian team.
Phorm made an abortive and controversial start in the UK back in 2007 when BT trialled its technology, tracking online behaviour without permission from users. With further negative publicity, BT and other big brands such as Orange and TalkTalk then dropped the hot potato, which has sought a fresh start in Korea and the new world.
