Gridsum Secures Funding for Analytics Roll Out

In Beijing, web, video and search analytics firm Gridsum Technology has completed a Series A financing round, which it will use to accelerate the distribution of its products and services in China, the US and other international markets.

Gridsum's services help businesses track, analyze and optimize their online marketing campaigns across web sites, search engines and online video. Since 2009, online buzz measurement specialist iCrossing has distributed the company's technology, and in 2007, Microsoft selected Gridsum as a member of its 'BizSpark One' startup program.

This latest round of funding has been led by Walt Disney Company venture capital firm Steamboat Ventures. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

'With strong support from the Microsoft and iCrossing partnerships, and now a significant investment by Steamboat Ventures, Gridsum will continue to accelerate its global expansion,' states the company's founder and CEO Guosheng Qi. 'The Steamboat Ventures team brings world-class global media and consumer technology experience, and we look forward to leveraging their expertise as we continue to grow our business.'

As part of the deal, Perry Chui and Alex Hartigan of Steamboat Ventures will join Gridsum's Board of Directors.

Last year, Steamboat Ventures led a Series B round of funding for social analytics specialist Sometrics, which develops technology to enable publishers, game developers and advertisers to analyze user data and better target their audiences.
