GfK Buys Shopper Insight Specialist Interscope
In the US, GfK has acquired marketing consultancy Interscope, which helps manufacturers and retailers understand the shopper landscape through a mix of analytics and creative ideas. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Westport, CT-based Interscope was founded in 2005 by four former executives of management consultancy Euro RSCG Meridian. The company's primary practice areas include shopper insights, category management, shopper marketing, sales and marketing training, and outsourced sales and marketing capabilities. As of 2010, Interscope had a staff of 22 employees.
GfK Custom Research North America will combine its shopper marketing and insights unit with Interscope's consulting discipline and training expertise, to create what it calls a 'truly integrated' shopper marketing practice.
'This new combined approach of fusing shopper research, category management and shopper marketing into a common growth platform adds great value to our clients and the marketplace,' states Gary Schanzer, Interscope co-founder and Principal.
Thomas Finkle, Chief Client Services Officer at GfK Custom Research North America, says the acquisition will help clients build healthier brands and strengthen customer loyalty.
