Cable/Satellite Ratings Contract Win for ACNielsen

ACNielsen Media has recently been awarded a new two year contract to supply Discovery Networks Asia with cable and satellite ratings data across five of the network's Asia Pacific markets.

This latest contract is thought to mark the first regional agreement Discovery has signed with ACNielsen Media International. It is also the latest in a series of regional contracts the researcher has secured in the past few months. The contract itself will cover the areas of Taiwan, Australia, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Taiwan and will be effective from January 1, 2002.

The Discovery Networks is a major entertainment broadcaster, putting out content in seven different languages across Asia. The network claims to reach over 70 million viewers through its Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery Kids, Discovery Health and Discovery Travel & Adventure channels.

"We are confident this regional deal will provide us with quality data in these markets that will enable us to deliver accountability and actionable insights to our advertisers. The decision to sign a regional contract with ACNielsen Media International proves cost effective for us and we recognise that ACNielsen is the only company that has the capacity and operations in these markets to meet our specific needs," said Anthony Dobson, director, research & strategic planning at Discovery Networks Asia.

"We are delighted to welcome Discovery Networks Asia as the latest regional client for our cable and satellite ratings. We are confident Discovery Networks Asia will benefit from regional data that is consistent across all markets, " added Forrest Didier, managing director, ACNielsen Media International Asia Pacific.
