IDC and CyberMedia Split in India
US technology market intelligence firm IDC is establishing its own India research business unit in Bangalore, while severing ties with its partner CyberMedia (India). CyberMedia will set up its own competing research arm in Delhi.
IDC India will continue to be operated by CyberMedia until February 28 this year, after which IDC will be hiring a 'substantial number' of research, consulting, management, sales, and support staff as part of its expansion.
The new CyberMedia Research (CMR) division will be headed by Thomas George (pictured), a veteran of 14 years at CyberMedia, who will be supported by a dedicated team - some of whom will join from the IDC partnership.
'India will be one of the most important technology markets in the world over the next several decades,' states Kirk Campbell, IDC President and CEO. 'By expanding our direct presence across the country, we will be able to deliver a greater range of research on India while guaranteeing the insight and consistency our clients expect.'
From March 1, 2011, CMR will be 'free to pursue its goals', which include offering syndicated and custom research services across the sectors covered by CyberMedia's publishing portfolio.
IDC is a subsidiary of technology media, research, and events company IDG and is online at www.idc.com , CyberMedia's web site is at www.cybermedia.co.in .
