Sermo Secures $3.5m to Expand Physician Community
In the US, Sermo has secured a $3.5m investment which it will use to continue expanding its physician community, while serving a growing roster of more than 300 clients.
Launched in 2005, Sermo offers an online physician community where over 117,000 practicing physicians can discuss a wide range of issues - from clinical cases to advice about drugs and practice management. Through this social media platform, clients can tap into unsolicited dialogue for physician feedback, market research and insight, as well as to increase brand awareness.
In addition, the company has developed a number of research platforms - including the Sermo Client Centre - that allow clients to conduct real-time qualitative and quantitative research and provide enhanced navigation, mining and monitoring of physician dialogue.
This latest round of funding has been raised by MMV Financial, as part of a larger $5m investment.
Daniel Palestrant, Founder and CEO, says: 'Today, one in five US physicians is a member of Sermo, and our clients can engage that community for market research, crowd sourcing or promotion across the country, The access to additional capital that MMV has provided will allow us to build on a successful business model that continues to deliver value to both our physicians and clients.'
