PeekYou Unveils 'Digital Footprint' Tool
In the US, search technology firm PeekYou has launched 'Social Analytics API', a tool which identifies and maps the 'digital footprint' of individual web authors and contributors; and structures, categorizes and analyzes public content for the firm's social listening and analytics partners.
Rather than matching relevant URLs and keywords, as Google does, PeekYou matches any given URL to the identity of the person who created it, or whom it is about. To date, the firm has identified more than 250 million people as authors of over 3 billion public URLs.
The new API service offers geo-demographics, social insights, spam filtering, and specialized scores that measure an individual's social reach. It has been designed to help companies measure, plan and track their social media marketing strategies, and complements data services such as Gnip and DataSift.
'Partners will now be able to combine geo-demographic data to brand mentions, retweets, and sentiment analysis,' states the firm's GM of Product Development, Josh Mackey. 'Understanding the make-up and reach of their social audience, brands will be able to benchmark and track gains in specific target market segments rather than just their total follower count.'
