EC to Listen to Echo
Echo Research has been appointed as the lead contractor for the provision of EU-related media analysis for the European Commission (EC). The four year contract is valued between EUR 4 million and EUR 7 million.
Echo has 45 staff in offices in London, New York, Paris and Singapore, and focuses on brand reputation and stakeholder insights, as well as analysis of social and other non-paid media.
Earlier this year, the firm was acquired by media and marketing analytics company Ebiquity, in a deal worth an initial £3.5m in cash, and up to £10m if Echo achieves certain targets over the next two years.
The EC contract award follows a year-long tender process. The project kicks-off in September, and will include media analysis and flash reports prepared for members of the European Commission and Directorates-General, spanning the EU's 27 member states across a wide range of subjects.
Nigel Middlemiss, Echo's Knowledge Director, comments: 'Taken together with the EC's opinion research, sound media analysis... feeds public opinion back into the political and policy-making process. We believe our proposed solution will support the Commission's drive for joined-up thinking and insight in this interconnected, cross-border, Internet-driven world.'
