MRC Approves Nielsen's Puerto Rico Ratings
Nielsen has received Media Rating Council (MRC) accreditation for its Puerto Rico TV audience measurement service, which was launched in April 2010.
The service uses Nielsen's UNITAM Metering technology to collect TV viewing data from a sample of 500 homes chosen through the firm's random area probability sampling techniques, which it claims accurately represent all demographics and regions on the Caribbean island.
The ratings serve 22 clients including stations, networks and media agencies across the six geographic regions within Puerto Rico.
UNITAM, which is based on Nielsen's exclusive Intelligent Stream Tracking (IST) technology, supports analogue and digital transmissions; any type of media presenting devices; live, time-shifted and on-demand viewing; and in-home and out-of-home viewing.
George Ivie, Executive Director and CEO of MRC comments: 'The MRC applauds Nielsen for successfully completing the accreditation process for its Puerto Rico television audience measurement service. Achieving MRC accreditation is difficult in today's environment and indicates that Nielsen meets MRC Standards, a recognized benchmark for quality and full disclosure.'
