Business Processing Firm to Buy EmPower Research
In the US, business processing and technology management firm Genpact is to acquire media monitoring and measurement specialist EmPower Research, which will be added to Genpact's Smart Decisions Services analytics and research division. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
EmPower uses proprietary methodologies to track to online consumer conversations. In July, the firm set up an innovation center called 'InnoLabs' to develop sources of insights from unstructured social media data.
The firm has approximately 360 employees based in New York, Bangalore, Cincinnati, New Jersey, San Francisco and London.
Genpact President and CEO Tiger Tyagarajan says the buy will add 'tremendous capabilities' for extracting insights from social media to obtain data on consumer behaviour.
EmPower co-founder and Managing Partner Debjani Deb adds: 'Genpact's already strong Smart Decision Services business, along with the firm's delivery capabilities in Europe and Asia, provides the scale that our business needs to expand our offerings...'
The deal is expected to close by the end of the month, subject to customary conditions. Web sites: www.genpact.com and www.empowerresearch.com .
