$2m Grist to Mill for Socialbakers

Czech firm Socialbakers has raised $2m in venture capital, which it will use to execute on 'aggressive' growth plans and extend its social media monitoring platform.

Launched in 2009 in the Czech Republic, with additional offices in the UK and US, Socialbakers provides global brands with solutions to build, measure, and manage their social media presence, monitor competition, and develop best practice benchmarks.

The firm specializes in tracking global statistics for Facebook via its Socialbakers Page Analytics product, but also measures global LinkedIn statistics, Twitter user accounts, and Google+ accounts. The latest round of funding has been led by Earlybird Venture Capital, whose General Partner Jason Whitmire will join Socialbakers' Board of Directors.

Socialbakers' CEO and co-founder Jan Rezab comments: 'The funding from Earlybird enables us to accelerate the business growth of our software-as-a-service (SaaS) based social media platform and further strengthens our position in the most important global markets.'
