Grinbath Rolls Out 'Total' Eye Tracking Solution
US eye tracking specialist Grinbath has rolled out EyeGuide, a system including hardware and software developed by usability researchers at Texas Tech University.
EyeGuide works on both Windows devices and Macs and includes an adjustable, wireless headset housing an infrared camera and LED light, which can be used inside or outside.
After testing, EyeGuide's built-in analysis tools can be used to generate data in formats such as heatmaps, gaze plots and 'bee swarms'. The system also features a solution to enable researchers to monitor user activity and stream test data live to another program.
Grinbath CEO Dr Brian Still, who is the current Director of Tech's Usability Research Lab, says the system was developed in response to the high costs charged for existing eye tracking devices. 'Initially it served as a solution just for us, but as we worked with it and improved it, we realized that it offered a viable solution for others like us who research users or build products, design advertising, or engage in other activities that could benefit from eye tracking research,' he adds.
