Chinese Option for Socrates
Qual research and technology company Quester has added Simplified Chinese to the language capabilities of its 'virtual moderator' package, Socrates - already available in English, French, German and Spanish versions.
Based in Ankeny, Iowa, Quester describes Socrates as 'the world's only virtual moderator'. The software analyses comments and provides 'a deeper understanding of the context of the respondent's answer'. The module can be integrated into virtually any software platform, from SPSS and ConfirmIT to DIY programs like Survey Gizmo.
The new version was drafted after multiple requests for Chinese language capabilities from clients, and tested with respondents across China. SVP Andrea Richards says the company 'expected to deal with a number of challenges in modifying our system to deal with a character based language' but has overcome them with the help of 'a wonderful team of consultants'.
Founded in 1977, Quester is online at www.quester.com .
