VerticalResponse Buys Social Media Specialist Roost

In the US, VerticalResponse - which provides DIY solutions for e-mail marketing, online surveys and event marketing - has acquired social media marketing technology firm Roost. Terms were not disclosed.

VerticalResponse currently provides a range of web-based solutions for small businesses. Through the acquisition, it will now give clients the ability to create, schedule, manage and measure their social media marketing campaigns through one dashboard.

CEO Janine Popick comments: 'The number of our customers who share their e-mail marketing campaigns with their social networks has increased over 1,400 per cent since the beginning of 2011, so it's clear that small businesses understand the power of social media. Now with Roost's social media marketing tools, they can take their customer engagement efforts to the next level.'

Following the acquisition, Roost CEO Alex Chang will serve as VP, Social Platform, while his firm's employees will fill various positions in the VerticalResponse team, with a focus on growing social media marketing for small businesses.
