Pollbob Buys DIY Polling Site Mister Poll
In the US, social media platform Pollbob has acquired DIY online polling site Mister Poll, and plans to merge the latter's online community of 270,000+ registered poll creators and takers, with its own growing mobile community. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Pollbob was founded in 2010 by childhood friends Ben Jacobson and Zach Kupperman. Their system enables users to gauge opinions in real-time, creating short opinion polls and sharing them with friends and others. It also provides geolocation information.
Since its launch in 1998 by a two-man team (who prefer not to be named), Mister Poll has been used to create more than 100,000 polls - both open polls containing an unlimited number of questions, and private polls for friends, family, and customers.
The acquisition is a first for Pollbob, and Jacobson (pictured) comments: 'Today we have taken a significant step towards our end goal of creating a more social, engaging, and transparent market research tool. The sizable addition of traffic from Mister Poll addresses a major challenge to the implementation of Pollbob's small business market research solutions we currently have deployed. We are now generating revenue and this acquisition creates more inventory for us to sell.'
Pollbob, which is now planning to pursue other acquisitions, is online at www.pollbob.com while its new acquisition is at www.misterpoll.com .
