WibiData Raises $5m for User Analysis Platform
In the US, web behavior analysis firm WibiData has raised $5m, which it will be using to expand its engineering team and open new operations.
Founded by former Google engineers Christophe Bisciglia and Aaron Kimball in 2010, WibiData's platform helps clients manage and analyze user data such as e-mails and web histories, to enable them to predict how consumers will interact with their products.
The system is designed to analyze large volumes of log-oriented transactional data as well as more concise profile data, in order to serve personalized recommendations. Wikipedia is currently using WibiData to understand its contributors, by analyzing their revision histories and identifying trends in contribution.
The latest funding has been provided by NEA (New Enterprise Associates) and Google Chairman Eric Schmidt, adding to previous investments from Cloudera CEO Mike Olson and SV Angel.
