Cision North America CEO Joe Bernardo Steps Down
Joe Bernardo has elected to retire early from his role as CEO of comms monitoring firm Cision North America on the 1st of March, when he will be replaced by current President and COO Peter Granat.
Cision (formerly Romeike), offers marketing and PR professionals a range of tools to manage all aspects of their communications - from identifying key media and influencers, to connecting with audiences, monitoring traditional and social media, and analyzing outcomes.
Bernardo joined Cision in 1998, to oversee the firm's executive management team in both the US and Canada. He previously served as President and Publisher of Financial Communications, and prior to this, he was president of computer services firm MGI of Chicago. Earlier in his career, Bernardo held various sales and marketing roles with the Official Airline Guides.
Commenting on his departure, Cision Group CEO Hans Gieskes says: 'For the past 13 years, Joe Bernardo has been key to Cision's success in North America, as the company transformed itself from a news clipping service to a global software and technology company.'
Over the past 12 months, Bernardo has handed over increasing levels of responsibility to Granat, a long-time Cision executive who spent two years as CEO of Cision Europe before returning to the US as North American President and COO in January 2011.
