RadiumOne Raises $50m, Launches Content Sharing App
In the US, social media ad targeting specialist RadiumOne is said to be closing a $50m investment round, and has launched Via.me, a new app for iPhone and desktop. The latter allows users to manage their output and content across multiple social networks.
The funding, reported by online news service TechCrunch, brings the total raised by the company to $83.5m. The previous, $21m round of funding included investors Crosslink Capital, DFJ Esprit, Adams Street Partners and Trinity Ventures.
Founded by online ad pioneer Gurbaksh Chahal, RadiumOne uses social media to profile consumers for brands to allow more accurate targeting of ads. The platform collects data covering use of and interaction on social media and then applies an algorithm which puts users into 'social clusters'. One of the data sources is Chahal's previous start-up virtual payment system gWallet.
Via.me will allow users to manage photos, videos, audio and other content across sites. The company also facilitates brand interaction with 'Like' and 'Share' buttons for display ads.
