IHS Buys Displaybank, Expands Asia Pac Coverage
Risk analysis company IHS Inc. has completed the acquisition of three companies, for a total of about $45 million. They include flat panel display market research specialist Displaybank.
Colorado, US-based IHS bought semiconductor supply chain analysts, iSuppli in November 2010. IHS Chairman and CEO Jerre Stead says the buy will expand his firm's reach in the Asia Pacific region, which he describes as 'critical to the company's growth'. Displaybank is based in Seoul, with offices in the US, Japan, China and Taiwan, and will give IHS its first Korean location.
IHS has also acquired the 'CAPS' electronic components database (Computer Assisted Product Selection) and tools business of PartMiner Worldwide, and will combine it with its own existing components database, according to President and COO Scott Key.
The third buy consists of the digital oil and gas pipeline and infrastructure information business of Hild Technology Services, which provides information for strategic planners in the industry in North America.
IHS says the timing of the deals means they will have no impact on its first-quarter financial results.
