Analysis of Pharmaceutical Market in Europe
The GfK Group, in collaboration with the Social and Cultural Planning Office (SCP) in the Netherlands, has put in place plans to undertake an analysis of the present pharmaceutical environment in countries throughout Europe.
Using an online questionnaire, GfK companies and SCP will invite experts in the healthcare market to participate in a comprehensive market survey. Martin Hamblin GfK has agreed to facilitate managing the survey in the UK. The results will be used to inform policy makers and business representatives about:
- Major social, economical and cultural trends and their effect on a nation's spending on pharmaceuticals.
- The cultural characteristics of nations and how they influence the behaviour of prescribers and consumers.
- Rules and regulations regarding pharmaceuticals of individual nations as well as supra-national organisations (EU) and their effect on sales (spending).
Results of the survey will be published in two English reports by the SCP (emphasis on policy issues) and GfK (emphasis on marketing issues) respectively. This research will also be used to establish an international network of experts representing various aspects of pharmaceuticals - industry, doctors, pharmacists, policy makers and consumers. In the autumn of 2002, experts and representatives of GfK subsidiaries will be invited to attend a two-day conference in The Hague, Netherlands. On the basis of the results of the conference, additional questions may be asked of the participating experts. It is expected that reports will be published in the beginning of 2003.
