Revenues Grow 4.1% to $18.7bn for Honomichl Top 25
The world's 25 largest marketing, advertising and public opinion research conglomerates saw revenues increase by 4.1% to $18.7bn in 2011, according to research industry pundit Jack Honomichl.
The listing, published in the August edition of Marketing News, shows that the Top 25 firms' revenue amounts to around 58% of the total world spend for research.
As a group, 55% of the Top 25 firms' combined revenues came from operations outside of their home countries and five have subsidiaries or operations in 64 or more countries.
The leader is Nielsen, which has been top of this listing since its inception. In 2011, Nielsen's $5.4bn in revenue came in from operations in 100 countries; Ipsos in France, earned 91% of its revenue from outside France; and only three firms - Westat in the US, and Video Research and Macromill in Japan - had no revenue from outside their home countries.
Of the Top 25, nine companies saw revenues decrease, or not grow enough to cover inflation of 2.7%.
