'Building the Alliance' from AEMRI

AEMRI (the Association of European Market Research Institutes) is offering the opportunity to attend a topical and informative get-together on the theme of retail research next month. The one-day event, entitled 'Building the Alliance', is to be held on the 14th June in the beautiful Italian birthplace of Puccini, Lucca.

Organiser Richard Chilton says, 'We are continuing our new policy (decided in November last year in Bruges and successfully followed in Cagnes) to hold frequent one-day meetings for members. Each meeting has a core speciality around which topics are raised and companies experienced in that speciality give short presentations to raise their profile with other members.'

The specially designed retail session will be based on 5 AEMRI member presentations. These will hopefully be followed by general discussion. The topics have been confirmed as:

  • Researching in the retail sector in Germany - John Attfield from RMM
  • 'On-site groups - how being there' adds insight in the retail sector - Nigel Rhodes from JRA Research
  • Global research with key retailer accounts - Joe Seydel from Rosslyn Research
  • Eye-tracking research for in store merchandising - Juergen Bluhm from IMMR
  • Fragrance & Cosmetics Tracking Study (FACTS) - Alexandre Khan from One World Research.

The morning will finish with a session on 'On-line meetings for AEMRI', to be followed by lunch. The afternoon will start with an Open Council meeting, including various reports on how AEMRI plans to implement its new 'Bruges action plan'. The agenda will probably cover the following:

  • Pharmaceutical & Healthcare pilot
  • Travel & Tourism pilot
  • Recommended criteria for establishing groups
  • Quality Standards & proposed new system for reporting on agency achievement
  • Administrative & financial issues.

The last session of the day will be the AEMRI Annual General Meeting, including elections and consideration of the special resolution on changing the name of the Association. After all the serious work is concluded, the mood will relax with cocktails and a gala dinner in the historic, Michelin-rated Buca di Sant'Antonio Restaurant.
