Social Analytics Firm General Sentiment Names New CEO
In the US, cable industry veteran Pete Moran has been named Chief Executive Officer of social media analytics company General Sentiment, after leading the firm's sales effort since January.
Jericho, NY-based General Sentiment offers real-time social intelligence to help clients interpret online conversations, understand brand perception, identify trending topics in specific industries, and optimize the effectiveness of their marketing campaigns.
Moran (pictured) joins with more than 30 years leadership experience across the cable sector. After spending 12 years with Cablevision, Moran led SkyConnect's entrance into the digital ad insertion business, and helped the firm develop an ad buy/sell platform called AdVergence. He then developed an ad platform for MediaOne, before joining ad agency Darcy Interactive Media as CEO. More recently, he worked at social media analytics firm Collective Intellect, and managed ad sales for WealthTV.
In his new role, Moran replaces interim CEO Ari Kahn, who joined the firm in 2011 to drive revenue from media ad sellers and brands, and to help find a permanent CEO.
The company's Chairman Jim Estill comments: 'We are very pleased to bring Pete on as CEO. He not only has significant experience, his entrepreneurial spirit and track record in building businesses make him a natural fit.'
