Pew Names Dimock Director of People & Press Center
In the US, the Pew Research Center has promoted pollster Michael Dimock to the role of Director of its 'Center for the People & the Press', replacing founder Andrew Kohut who announced his resignation earlier in the year.
The Center is best known for its election research, its long-term examination of trends in political and social values, and its examination of trends in media consumption.
Dimock (pictured) takes up the new role in January after twelve years with the organization, most recently as Associate Director for Research. He will report to Alan Murray who is Kohut's successor as overall President of the Pew Research Center.
Commenting on his appointment, Dimock said: 'I've been privileged to have Andy Kohut as my mentor in tracking the shifting landscape of public opinion. I'm honored to take on this new role and continue the Pew Research Center's important work of helping the public and its leaders understand what Americans think about the big issues facing our nation.'
Kohut will stay on as Founding Director, continuing to provide counsel to the Center and directing Pew's Global Attitudes Project in 2013.
