Vision Critical Buys Text Analytics Firm
Panel and research technology specialist Vision Critical has acquired text analytics specialist DiscoverText. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Amherst, MA-based DiscoverText grew out of text analysis research conducted by Dr Stuart Shulman (pictured), the founder of the QDAP (Qualitative Data Analysis Program) labs at the University of Massachusetts and the University of Pittsburgh.
The firm's algorithms enable businesses to analyze sentiment, discover trends and topics, and identify emerging issues directly from customer feedback. Once integrated into Vision Critical's insight communities, DiscoverText will give clients continuous, on-demand access to insights from discussions including e-mail and social media conversations.
Says Shulman: 'DiscoverText has the power to capture, filter, de-duplicate, cluster, search, human code and machine classify large numbers of small, unstructured units of text-features that are invaluable to Vision Critical customers. I'm pleased to join forces with Vision Critical as we take DiscoverText to the next level.'
Scott Miller, Group CEO of Vision Critical describes the acquisition as a 'game changer' for his firm, its partners and its clients.
