Cash and Google Analytics Launch for Simply Measured

Social media analytics specialist Simply Measured has raised $8m in a Series B round of funding, which it will use to hire additional staff and invest in new products and technology. Separately, the firm has introduced new reporting capabilities for Google Analytics.

Adam SchoenfeldThe company's measurement and reporting solution aggregates social media and web data from more than a dozen sources and presents it in a single dashboard that can be accessed and shared by everyone across a team. More than 30 reports can be created in real-time and pushed to familiar tools such as Excel or PowerPoint.

The firm's latest funding was led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with MHS Capital and existing angels participating.

CEO Adam Schoenfeld (pictured) comments: 'We're a bit different than a lot of other start-ups that you see announcing venture rounds in that we didn't actually need more money to keep the lights on. Thanks to our amazing team and incredible customers who've believed in us from the beginning, we were able to build a self-sustained, growing, profitable company before raising a large venture round. Being in this rare position meant that we had a clear choice: keep growing organically on the company's revenues or raise additional capital to grow faster.'

The firm has also announced the introduction of Google Analytics reports that add to its portfolio of analytics for Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Google+, Klout and Bit.ly. This new data source links social engagement, web traffic and conversion, while enabling the firm to analyze site traffic down to the individual tweet, influencer or blog post level.
