AQR's Advanced Seminar
The Association for Qualitative Research (AQR) is hosting a one day 'Advanced Seminar' this Friday, the 14th June. Addressing the new techniques opening up to qualitative researchers, the event should outline the challenges and issues currently facing the industry.
The seminar has sprung from the fact that clients are increasingly demanding a closer understanding of their customers from researchers. This is forcing researchers to adopt ever-new practices to deliver the intelligence required.
Amongst the diverse topics under discussion will be 'Observation and Innovation', 'Anthropological Insight', 'Neuroscience, Memory and the Brain', and understanding 'the Decentred Consumer in a Post-Modern World'. Giving these presentations will be a number of high profile figures from the profession. These include Philly Desai, Director, Turnstone; Paula Neal, Head of Research, PDD; Dr Anita Naoko Pilgrim, Research Associate, The Centre for Urban and Community Research, Goldsmiths College; Greg Rowland, Director, Greg Rowland Ltd; Dr Tamsin Addison, Head of Research, RSM Marketing Improvements; and Gill Ereaut, Qualitative Researcher, GEQR.
Ann Whalley, Chair, AQR, commented 'We have added this seminar to our training portfolio in response to industry demand. In recent years, qualitative researchers have faced many changes, in particular in the increasing demands placed on them by clients to find new methods of gaining consumer insight. Many researchers realise that there is a growing need for them to adapt their working strategies and become more innovative, yet they are frequently unsure exactly how to go about it. We hope that this seminar will address their concerns and inspire them to become more creative.'
