The Sound Hires Knapman to Lead London Office
Qual specialist The Sound Research has appointed former BBC research leader Stuart Knapman to head its London office, replacing Andrew Davidson, who joined Flamingo in December as Head of its UK Practice.
Founded in 2007 by Ian Pierpoint and Emma Richmond, The Sound Research employs 32 staff at its headquarters in Vancouver and offices in London, Toronto, New York and Chicago.
Knapman (pictured) joins from media and technology specialist Essential Research, which was set up by two former BBC researchers and two years' ago, sold to SPA Future Thinking. Prior to this, he spent eight years at the BBC, where he latterly served as Head of Pan-BBC Research, and earlier worked as Head of Audience Insight. He began his career at Millward Brown.
In his new role as a Board Member, Knapman will focus on consumer research and helping clients understand the implications of digital technology.
Davidson left The Sound Research in December to join London-based qual agency Flamingo. He previously led the international youth, consumer trends and lifestyle research division at OTX, was VP-International Insights at MTV Networks, a Youth Trends Expert at MTV, and an AD at Vegas Youth Research.
