ICG Launches DIY Research Video
UK-based research network the ICG has launched a video giving advice to those looking to use DIY research approaches. Chairman Arthur Fletcher states: 'we are not going to stick our heads in the sand and pretend DIY research isn't happening'.
The video, Six Top Tips for DIY Research, is online at http://theicg.co.uk/resource/4000116/icg-expert-video , and complements the pdf guide the organisation issued two years ago (http://theicg.co.uk/resource/4000077/diy-research-guide-for-the-non-expert-researcher ).
The ICG (Independent Consultants' Group) counts as its members around 400 independent market researchers, mostly UK-based. The Group notes that 'more and more businesses are conducting their own surveys... but without the support of experienced market research professionals the results can be variable, and companies may find they don't achieve the insight they were looking for.'
Fletcher continues the theme: 'As an organisation, we're committed to the promotion and execution of quality market research. While we would always advocate the importance of using professional market researchers, we are not going to stick our heads in the sand and pretend DIY research isn't happening. We want to help DIY researchers avoid making basic mistakes and obtain meaningful results.'
The video, presented by ICG member Chris Brookes, covers areas including creating a focused survey, selecting respondents and presenting findings. The Group suggests it will interest not only small and medium sized companies but also larger organisations where individual departments often carry out their own research.
