Tobii Tables X2 Eye Tracking Hardware

Eye tracking specialist Tobii Technology has unveiled a new line of low-cost and lightweight hardware, which it says will open up the potential of the technology to a much larger spectrium of the research community.

new hardware is smaller, cheaper, better, says TobiiTobii's X2 Eye Trackers are billed as highly portable, versatile and easy to use, but also very accurate with 'a revolutionary large track box' (the physical space in which a participant can be tracked). The trackers are available in 30 or 60 Hz frame rate models, with modular design and different hardware options giving suitability for a wide variety of study types.

The X2s, compatible with Tobii Studio software, are powered by just one USB cable, facilitating study outside the lab, for example in malls, homes and schools; and offer high authenticity, 'allowing participants to be tracked at their most natural distance from a screen or stimuli and move freely and naturally'.

Tom Englund, the firm's President of Analysis Solutions at Tobii, comments: 'We believe the new Tobii X2 Eye Trackers will eliminate the previously existing barrier of cost and, through its revolutionary ease of use, allow a broader range of researchers to benefit from the immense value eye tracking offers in understanding human behavior. This will create new research opportunities and discoveries in science, health, education, product development, usability testing, packaging design, advertising, branding and more.'

Founded in 2001, Tobii is based in Stockholm, Sweden, and has offices in the USA, Germany, Norway, Japan and China, with a home page at www.tobii.com .
