IBM to Buy BI Firm Star Analytics
IBM has agreed to acquire the software portfolio of Redwood City, California-based Star Analytics for an undisclosed sum.
Star Analytics' software helps to automatically integrate information, reporting applications, and business intelligence tools across enterprises. In a statement, IBM said the addition of this software will further advance its own business analytics initiatives.
Once the transaction closes, Star Analytics' portfolio will become part of IBM's Financial Performance Management solutions, which are a part of the Business Analytics Software Group, while Star's employees will join IBM's Business Analytics team.
Quinlan Eddy (pictured), Star Analytics founder and CEO, comments: 'Star Analytics software allows organizations to move critical analytics source data at will and use it regardless of which application they need to use it with, providing both flexibility and accessibility. As part of IBM, we can now bring our technologies to a broader range of clients to help them uncover new, untapped growth opportunities.'
The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2013.
